Workshop :: Iconic Charlotte (general admission)

Doors open at 5:30 p.m.
Workshop begins at 6:00 p.m.

Iconic Charlotte is a three hour marathon of fast paced civic symbol design. This exciting event challenges designers, artists and visual thinkers to create a suite of functional civic symbols for our fair city. The symbols can be a mixture of landmarks, history, factoids, old/new culture, etc… making a nice visual collection of icons that promote all things CLT. (Hmm, what's a good symbol for something like, "The New South" or "Pulled Pork"?)

Before the marathon begins, participants will receive a quick course in symbol design fundamentals and production techniques from the session host, Mike Wirth (Information Graphics Designer and Prof. of New Media Design at Queens University of Charlotte). Paper, post-its and markers will be provided for design teams to quickly draw their symbols. Be sure to bring your laptop, because each team will need to digitize their symbols on the spot. Upon completion of the night, we will collect the finished products and submit them for acceptance to the Noun Project's website.

What to Bring: Attendees should bring sketchbooks and laptops

It will be an intense–and extremely fun–evening of great ideas, brilliant symbols and beer & pizza.
