Stephen Philpott is a freelance graphic designer working with local brands. He grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina and is proud to call himself local. He is a graduate of Savannah College of Art and Design with a BFA in Advertising Design.
What’s your proudest accomplishment?
Finally going back to college and graduating. I went off to a small men’s college right out of high school and flunked out promptly. It took me 10 years to get back to school, but I graduated from a school I loved with a degree I’m proud of.
If there is karaoke at your next office party, what song will you be singing?
“With A Little Help From My Friends” by Joe Cocker. I can do a mean impersonation of this and embarrass myself in the process.
Favorite Movie?
Raiders of the Lost Ark. I am a nut for Spielberg and Indiana Jones is just plain cool.
What’s the best advice you ever received?
Never give up. This has been told to me by a couple of people who had faith in me when I had none left.
What are you currently working on?
Marketing and brand promotion for The Sporting Gent, a men’s boutique on Selwyn Avenue. Marc Williams needed a designer to help him expand the brand marketing from simple once-a-month emails to once-a-week emails, social images, and print and online advertising.
