Design for Good Poster Initiative: Kickoff
Design for Good is an AIGA initiative that employs the power of creativity and design to improve the human experience culturally, socially, environmentally and economically. It aims to channel designers, and their creative talent, toward community needs and demonstrate how design and design thinking can make a difference.
For the Design for Good Poster Initiative, we’re calling on the design community to create posters that will inform Charlotte citizens about changes you think will improve the city now, and will inspire positive change towards making Charlotte a world-class city by 2025.
HOW DOES THIS WORK?
1. ATTEND THE KICKOFF / DOWNLOAD THE BRIEF
Tuesday, March 31, 2015 from 6:00 — 8:00pm
Common Market Southend:
Join your fellow design community for happy hour, mingling, tasty libations, and (most importantly) pick up your Design for Good Poster Creative Brief (or download the brief now: Creative Brief).
2. DESIGN A POSTER
Design a poster, relating to the Creative Brief, that inspires the community to create positive change in Charlotte. The poster can be a type treatment, illustration, photograph, collage, watercolor, etc. Posters made non-digitally must be submitted as scans in the proper format.
Requirements and Formatting:
Dimensions: 18″ x 24″
Color: Monochromatic (one color or shades of one color) using:
PMS 320 Uncoated (Aqua) for Change in Charlotte Now
PMS 185 Uncoated (Red) for Making Charlotte a world-class city by 2025
Format: Press Ready PDF, under 10 MB, 300ppi
3. SUBMIT BY MAY 26
All monochromatic Press-Ready PDF posters must be submitted to jfuller@charlotte.aiga.org on or before FRIDAY, May 15, 2015 BY 5:00pm to be included in the show. Posters will be displayed on AIGA Charlotte’s online gallery and be printed for the Gallery Exhibit Show( Date/Location TBD). When submitting, please make sure to include your name and website.
4. ATTEND THE DESIGN FOR GOOD POSTER GALLERY SHOW
June 2nd at Artspace 525
Join your closest friends and colleagues to honor your hard work for Design for Good and view all of the submissions. Come out, celebrate the community and inspire Charlotte!
5. SPREAD THE WORD
Use hashtag #d4g_posters to share updates, ask questions and discuss the Design for Good Poster Initiative!
